Our Services

Our offices offers full service eyecare, performing comprehensive eye examinations and diagnosing and treating most eye diseases.
Our specialty is delivering clear, comfortable, binocular vision for all distances and tasks, whether computer and reading related or for recreational activities like golf.
We are one of a handful of practices in Connecticut certified as a PRIO Computer Eyestrain Relief Center. We have instrumentation which allows us to measure where the eye is focusing while you are watching a monitor and evaluate and eliminate the eyestrain associated with computer use. For more details about this unique technology, visit www.prio.com .
We design and fit custom contact lenses for every eye condition, including astigmatism and the need for bifocals. Available in numerous tints and colors, the contacts are designed to help you see clearly and look great. Contact lenses are particularly well suited for sports applications where bulky eyeglasses or goggles would interfere with performance. We have fit thousands of patients of all ages in soft and gas permeable contact lenses.
We are an affiliated LASIK case manager with the TLC Laser Eye Center and Fichman Eye Center. Through our office, you have access to some of the most experienced refractive surgeons in the country. While the LASIK procedure is performed at either the TLC Laser Eye Center in Fairfield, CT or the Fichman Eye Center in Manchester, CT, the examinations and follow-up evaluations are performed in our offices in Middletown or East Hampton, resulting in less travel and better, more convenient care.
Our eyeglass dispensary is the largest in the area carrying the designer lines from Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Coach, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Vera Bradley, Fendi, Nautica, DKNY and dozens more. For our patients, the Palmer Eyecare Center adds an additional year to the manufacturer supplied one-year frame warranty on all of our designer frames giving you the peace of mind of knowing that there will be no additional charges for two years for repairs or replacement should you have a problem with your eyeglass frame.
We have some of the best lenses available worldwide. Lenses fabricated by manufacturers known for exceptionally precise optics such as Nikon, Zeiss, Varilux, Hoya and Shamir insure some of the thinnest, lightest and easiest to adapt to lenses. The newest, state-of-the-art lenses are custom designed for a patient's specific prescription using advanced computer algorithms that eliminate inherent optical aberations from the lenses, which are then individually lathe cut to precision that rivals the wavelength of light! Because peripheral distortion is custom engineered out of the lenses, the incomparable vision is superb throughout the entire field of view.
We carry the revolutionary polarized magnetic sun-clip eyeglasses from several manufacturers. These popular, anti-glare stainless steel and titanium eyeglass frames convert into sunglasses in one second and are terrific for driving! Better yet, for conventional eyeglass frames, we can add the magnets inside the lenses so any frame can have a polarized magnetic sunclip.
Facilities and Equipment
In order to thoroughly examine your eyes, we must first gather information and clearly image all the parts of your eyes. We can better understand what problems might be taking place if we can clearly see the individual parts of each eye. We now have the technology to identify problems in the retina that may only be a few microns wide. (As a comparison, a human hair is about 100 microns thick.)  To do this, we utilize state-of-the-art imagining equipment from around the world.
Some of our computerized instruments use the wavelength of light to measure the prescription and curvature and thickness of the cornea for fitting contact lenses and LASIK laser eye surgery. Others  utilize optical coherence tomography to generate 3-dimentional images of the retina (similar to an MRI) to catch macular degeneration and glaucoma changes long before any damage is noticed by a patient. Early detection and treatment is crucial to preventing loss of vision as one ages. Conventional retinal photography establishes a baseline from which to compare future evaluations.
By comparing a patient's test results with age-related normative databases developed with thousands of test subjects, we can quickly determine if the results are expected or abnormal. Computers perform tens of thousands of comparisons per second to evaluate the results. As you can see, an eye exam is much more than looking through an instrument and answering, "Which is better, one or two?" A comprehensive eye exam evaluates the eye health, quality and sharpness of vision, and binocular comfort, all critically necessary components to maintaining healthy eyes and sharp vision.
Our offices are handicapped accessible, located on a ground level with no steps. Handicap parking is directly in front of our door.
